HOME - EXTRA CURRICULUM - TOURS - 1998
Euro Disney Paris & London
The tour this year was meant to be a French Linguistic trip to Normandy for the Pre-Leaving Certificate class. however when Mr. Tunney said "Show me the money" the seniors were less than ready to part with their greens. In the interim a number of first years expressed an interest in going to France, Normandy or Paris. In the end a tour was organised to Paris via an F.A. Cup fourth round match in London (Wimbledon V Wolves). The travel from England to France would be through the newly opened Channel Tunnel.
Doherty's Travel from Dungloe provided the excellent coach for the duration of the trip. However before reaching Dublin a member of the party fell ill and had to be met at Dublin Port by his cousin. Once on the ferry the boys strengthened Irish-French relations! Travelling to London through the night we arrived and checked in to the hotel. That afternoon all the tickets were picked up for the game and the group after some shopping headed for the home of "the crazy gang". A draw was the result and everyone enjoyed the electric atmosphere of the tight little stadium that is Selhurst Park. The next morning the coach was pointed south towards the Tunnel and after 30 short minutes we were in France. Arriving in Paris our route took us past the Stade De France which was just been finished. Overnight in the hotel and the next morning the culture of the French capital was being soaked up by the group. At this stage quite a number of the group began to fall to the cold. This dampened the spirits of some.
A trip to Eurodisney was next on the agenda and once in through the gates of the park all symptoms of the flu were gone! Thus is the magic of Disney! A day of fun and excitement was had by all in the magical kingdom and everyone thought that all the bad press that the park had recieved was not justified. Mr. Kelly and Mr. McGinley stayed at the hotel to mind one poor unfortunate who did not feel like travelling to the park
