Paul Thornton
Paul has been a pivotal player in all the gaelic teams he has played on since arriving in the college. Paul has a great versatility and can play almost anywhere on the pitch. His uncle Brian Tuohy was the captain of the Donegal U21 team who won the All Ireland Title in 1981.
Paul is at home marshalling the defence from the centre-half back slot, althought he has been called on to play in midfield and wing half back - a position he plays for the county minor team this year (2006) as they captured the Ulster Minor Championship for the first time in a decade.
As Captain of the team he leads by example and he accepts nothing less than 100% from all those around him. Like all good players his commitment is total to training and the game. In the Herald Cup campaign Paul popped up from time to time to score from centre-half. His steely resolve with a physical presence on the field to back it up makes Paul a player you want on you team, not playing against you.
In the Loch an Iuir final with Eunan's tied against La Salle, Belfast in the second half it was Paul who strode purposefully up the field to strike the penalty with precision and power past the desparing keeper to put the college in the driving seat and on the road to the title.
