HOME - SPORT - GAELIC - CAPTAINS NIGHT Lorcan Keeney Lorcan Keeney captained the Corn Colmcille side to the final of the competitioin in his first year where they were defeated by 3 points by a fancied St. Lois Kilkeel side, this game was played the morning after Lorcan and his team mates lifted the All Ireland U13 soccer title. Not happy with being beaten Lorcan exhalted his team mates to push hard for the loch an Iuir title the nest year where he lifted the cup in Owenbeg, the Derry school of excellence. Playing at midfield in this competition Lorcan was always able to dominate the area between the 40's and his atleticism allowed him to defend deep and then carry the ball in a Blitzcreig fashion to the heart of the oppenents defence where his direct running and close ball control caused panic. An exceptional sportsman Lorky as he is known to all in the college was spotted by soccer scouts and he was on his way tio Wolves. While in Transition Year he lined out for the Herald Cup team in 2004 and his eye for goal when placed on the inside forward line with a free roving role saw him find the net with key scores along the way. The last game Lorky played for the college was in Maghera in the Herald Cup Final where his imperious display saw Eunan's lift the Herald against St. Michaels Lurgan. This bridged a 25 year gap for the return of the title to the Cathederal Town.
