The All Weather
Today Spratt's field or the Prep Pitch as it was also know is an all weather surface with a top layer of "Topwearing 2" coat of Coleraine Basalt dust. Today past pupils look in with envy on the all weather as it is playable all year long.
In the past the Prep Pitch was heavy and wet in the rain and in the dry weather it was solid and hard. Over the years as the demands of the curriculum have changed the need to develop an all weather facility was great. Th all weather pitch allows Physical Education classes to continue all year long without the need to cover the participants in mud for much of the winter months.
