Welcome to the new and revamped St Eunan's College web site! Neil Gordon, Pauric O'Donnell, Edward Harvey and many others have worked hard on the web site to make it both user friendly and informative, giving you as much information as we can on St Eunan's College. Over time we will add much more material to the site giving you the student, parent and casual user an in-depth appreciation of what is involved in the school, its courses, policies, curricular and extra curricular activity.
St Eunan's College is an all boys secondary school. It is a big school with well over 800 students and almost 60 staff. The college was built orginally as a Minor Seminary in 1906 replacing a secondary school situated in the Literary Insitute ( now the Town Library) with extensions added in 1932, 1958, 1964 and 1979. Boarding ended in 1992, however, the school continues to serve an extended area beyond its immediate catchment area of Letterkenny. The school offers a varied and extensive programme and prides itself on the achievements of its students in many and varied fields of endeavour. Many who have studied in our classhalls have gone on to greater things in fields as varied as acting, medicine, sport and the church.
The school has changed radically in its outlook and environment and our recent Department of Education and Science Whole School Evaluation in February 2009 has both confirmed and affirmed that change. St Eunan's College was commended by the Department of Education Inspectorate for the caring and welcoming environment that has been created, for the structures in place to support students and parents and the nature and variety of programmes available. The Inspectorate commented on the healthy quality of the relationship which existed between the teaching staff and the student body. The school is proud if its record in building an environment which endeavours to give each student a positive experience of his schooling and allows him to achieve his potential in a Christian and caring environment.
I hope you enjoy our developing web site and find it useful and informative.
